About Forney Fire Department

The Forney Fire Department meets the needs of our community by responding to fire, medical, and rescue incidents as well as requests for public education and other actions that our department can assist the public with.

Over 4,000 calls were answered last year and an increase in volume is expected as the community grows. Rick Townsend is the Fire Chief for the City of Forney.

The Forney Fire Department is a combination department consisting of 12 volunteer firefighter and 31 paid firefighters including:

Service Area

The department's fire protection area covers approximately 80 square miles and consists of:

  • City of Forney
  • City of Talty
  • Kaufman County's Emergency Service District Number 6

The area that the Fire Department responds to consists of major highways, railroad traffic, dozens of state highways, and a rapidly growing retail, education, and residential base.
